Uncle George Naopi The Big Kahuna
George Na‘ope, co-founder of the Merrie Monarch Festival, died at age 81 in 2009, but his hula lineage lives on.
It was my Destiny and Fate to Meet Uncle George
After my parents Divorce my Father moved to Hawaii to Open up Ken's House of Pancakes on the Big Island in the city of Hilo where Uncle George lived at the time!
Years later my father pulled me aside one day and told me about this very Powerful Spiritual man called Uncle George, The Big Kahuna.
Well as a child I was very fascinated at the time. And I remember my father sending me things through the mail that Uncle George had blessed.
My father told me the story of how Uncle George walked up the hillside to stop the Molten Lava from destroying the entire city of Hilo. And I remember seeing video of it on the news.
The Volcano had erupted and all over the news they continued to show the Lava moving towards the city of Hilo and how it was going to be completely destroyed.
Well as Legend was told, actually it wasn't just a legend or story it actually happened and was on the news / television, Uncle George literally walked up the mountainside / hillside and planted in one spot and began to chant over and over and over asking the Formidable Goddess of the Big Island to stop the Lava to protect Hilo.
Sure enough within 10 to 20 feet of Uncle George the Lava began to split in a wide V for no reason at all. It literally just stopped and began to go outwards in a V. As it began going down the mountainside it began to get wider and wider and wider and it completely missed the city of Hilo only damaging the road/ highway that went around the island which was easily repaired weeks later!
Many years later I was at my fathers house talking to him about this Big Kahuna, Uncle George! Out of no where, Suddenly my dad, leaned forward, looked deeply into my eyes, with a deep, deep look I had never seen in his eyes or any man's eyes before, and Firmly said, "You're going to meet Uncle George one day!"
Kind of scared or mystified, I leaned away and said, "Okay dad, Okay..."
I was caught off guard and thought, "How would I meet a man hundreds of miles away across the pacific ocean?" I just kind of shrugged it off and never thought about it again!
Many Years Later a Magical Connection Happened
At 19 years of age, as I was attending my 5th Tony Robbins Seminar I realized this is what I was meant to do with my life, Personal Development, NLP, Hypnosis and Energy Healing!
I decided right then and there I was going to spend my life developing my skillset and go to every seminar and certification course I could on these healing Modalities!
Well very shortly afterwards, about a year or more I found myself on my way to a 5 week NLP Training, Timeline Therapy and Erickonian Hypnosis Training, which at the time I did not know, it also included a Huna Certification Course! This was not the only one but this one was Life Changing!
Meeting Pele the Goddess of Fire
Upon Arriving on the Big Island I had this odd feeling of being home for the first time in my entire life! Everywhere I went not only was I fascinated by the sounds, fresh smells of fruit, plants, flowers and the Warm Ocean air, I had this odd feeling of being home.
There was something else that I felt but wasn't quite sure what it was...
Well I met my roommate and eventually fell asleep that night only to wake up around 4 a.m. or so... after realizing I couldn't sleep anymore, I thought I would just go for a walk and explore the hotel and area.
Well I found my self drawn to the ocean waves that were crashing on the beach in a very relaxing yet almost seductive manner. I was being pulled towards the beach and I began to just aimlessly walk up the beach line alongside the water.
Suddenly, overcome by emotions I began to cry huge, huge tears coming from a deep, deep place within... although it was an emotional release I had no idea why I was crying so deeply!
I began to feel this pull to look back towards the land towards a tall hillside / mountain. I immediately knew what this feeling was I was having the moment we landed...
Tears Pouring down my Face I knew it was, what I later found out to be, the Goddess Pele. I could feel her emotions...
This internal struggle began as I fell to my knee's sobbing... and said, "I can not leave my Religion and beliefs but I will respect you and all who are on your island. I am only here to learn and then I will leave and go home!"
Suddenly the overwhelming emotions subsided and calmed very much so and I knew she had not only accepted me, she would protect me! I felt a genuine sense of peace from her.
Meeting the Big Kahuna Uncle George Naope
Well as the classes started I actually had no idea we were going to learn Huna or even what Huna actually was. In fact it wasn't until we started class that I even knew what that feeling was that I had. They had told us about Pele and to respect her.
Well you didn't have to tell me that. I could feel her emotions...
Well I was only 20 years old, and didn't actually read the syllabus. All I knew was I was going to learn NLP and Ericksonian Hypnosis like Tony Robbins! And that's why I was there. Well at least that's what I thought.
As the days and weeks went by, 1 day we were introduced to this really small framed man who had a smile that lit up the universe. He had this amazingly deep, dark look in his eyes that at the same time had a sparkle almost as if there was literally this starlight sparkle coming from his eyes.
You couldn't help but smile when he was in the room. It was this light, amazing feeling and energy that emitted from his body.
Well Uncle George took a liking to me and had pulled me aside to talk to me a few times. Which, I was very, very honored as he was the guest speaker and teacher. We had also gone out to dinner and had lunch and talked a few times.
We did a morning class with him every morning I believe for about 2 1/2 hours. And later on we did complete all day trainings with him.
Then as we were coming back from lunch, as I walked in, Uncle George called me over and in front of Dr. Tad James and some of the other trainers and students he said, "You have the Strongest Mana I have ever seen!"
Everyone went silent and I was a bit perplexed, as at the time I didn't understand how that was possible, until many years later.
He went on to say, "You already know how to heal people. All you have to do is open up! You have very, very strong Mana!"
Again, Shocked and humbled I almost bowed as he laughed a little and smiled a lot with deep, deep, knowing look in his eyes as he leaned forward towards me. It was then that I got that same feeling I had before when my dad said to me, "One day you will meet Uncle George!"
It was the same feeling I had on the island when I first arrived and finally went out to the ocean at 4 a.m..
It was my Destiny and my Fate to meet Uncle George the Big Kahuna and Pele the Goddess of Fire!
